Overview
The Milligan Charitable Bike Ride, in partnership with Sky Media and sponsored by Savills Estate Agents, was a 3-day bike ride in memory of Nicko and Emily Milligan who died in a tragic family boat accident in Cornwall in May 2013.
On Friday 20th June, 125 riders took 3 days to cycle the 300 mile route from Trevose Golf Club in Cornwall to Trinity Fields, in London. On the first day they cycled 94 miles through St Neots and Dartmoor to Exeter climbing nearly 3,000 metres. With a detour that added an extra 10 miles on to the route due to a burst water main, it was an incredibly tough day and the riders had to dig deep to conquer the continuous stream of hills.
On the second day they cycled 120 miles to Southampton via Branscombe, Martinstown and Brockenhurst coping with an ascent of 2,772 metres. For many it was 12-14 hours in the saddle but moral was good and in their groups they worked together. With the constant support of their ride leaders, they all made it successfully to Southampton.
